WATCH ME.

That’s what I said to my brain today.

Really, that is exactly what happened.
I was a little mad that I had to run this morning, but I had a friend that was expecting me to be there.
Then that little nagging voice in my mind started saying, “You can’t do this.  You’re tired.  I can’t believe you think you’re going to run that marathon.  You should stop.”

So, I decided to prove it wrong (aka “watch me”).
I took the long route, didn’t walk at all & I ran with intention.
It wasn’t my usual, “That was fun!” -kind of run.
It was more of a “Take that!  You’re wrong again!” -kind of feel.

I’m still a little miffed with that ole’ brain.

Perhaps I should go for another run…

Chilton Runners: “running with friends”

My husband surprised me with a visit to tour my “dream home” the other day.  It was everything on my “list”, it even had a spectacular view AND was only 5 minutes from shopping.

(He’d always said I couldn’t have both a pretty view and live close to town too.)

I LOVED IT!

…but…

Where would I run?…and what about our running group?

We were just dream building anyway, but I told him that I couldn’t move there…I couldn’t leave my running friends. 🙂

In this town of beauty pageants, politics, baseball, hunting, sweet tea and AU/AL football(none of which mean a thing to me), I never felt like I really belonged here until I started running.

I often wonder if every running group is as great as mine…I can’t imagine so…
What a great group of people!

Conditions were favorable for “shining”!

Last week during an early morning run, I looked up and thought:

“Wow!  Those stars sure are shining bright today!”

Then I realized that it wasn’t that the stars were any different than usual.

The stars don’t change.

Only their environment does.

So, the conditions were favorable for shining that day…

No Regrets.

I haven’t ran since Thursday.

We were on vacation & I slept in each day.

Trading in my usual alarm clock(s) & starlit skies, I instead welcomed the morning sunshine streaming through my wall of sliding glass doors.

As I looked out the window at this beautiful bay view…I never once wished that I was out there running.

I don’t regret one minute of my 5 day running vacation.

A refreshing break was just what I needed.

Tomorrow’s a new day….
Time to finish our last full week of half marathon training!
